Replace Missing Teeth with Permanent Dental Implants

Check out the teeth in the photos to the right and below. One of Jim’s front teeth was replaced by Dr. Shapiro and nobody knows.  Dental implants support permanent new teeth. They are prosthetic roots that are placed into your jaw and supported by bone the same way a natural tooth would be. In fact, implants are so strong that only a few of them are needed for full mouth rehabilitation purposes.

Single Tooth Replacement

For individual teeth that are lost, implants are the ideal solution. They are cost effective as only a single restoration is needed. When missing teeth are replaced by a traditional bridge it involves crowning the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth. That makes cleaning more difficult and if one tooth of the bridge breaks down or decays then the entire bridge needs to be replaced. Replacing a missing tooth with an implant does not add stress to any existing teeth. Implant supported crowns can be made virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. Proper fabrication combined with regular maintenance will enable an implant supported tooth to last a lifetime.

Dental Implant Restorations

Believe it or not, dental implants are made to last for the rest of your life. They have the longest life expectancy of any dental procedure, with an extremely high implantation success rate. They bond to the bone in your jaw to become a permanent fixture in your mouth. With tooth colored crowns, they look like your natural teeth, they bite & chew like real teeth and they fill in your smile like real teeth.

Implants can be used to support dental fixtures:

Couple with teeth implants smilingThe number of implants you need will depend on how many missing teeth you currently have. Individual teeth are replaced with a porcelain crown supported by a single implant root. Bridges are supported by two implants, one on each end. Implant supported dentures can usually be anchored by as few as four implants for the entire arch!

Most of our implant therapies are completed start to finish right here in the Center for Cosmetic Dentistry’s office. We are one of the few cosmetic implant dentists to offer this service. To learn more about how dental implants can change your smile forever, call us today!
