This lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in the State of New York. Construction started on Jun 7, 1796, and was fished on November 5th of that same year. It has been an important part of land and sea navigation for more than 220 years, and it is considered to be a historical landmark.

Cradle of Aviation Museum

Long Island has a rich history in aviation, and this museum is intended to be a tribute to the past, and to inspire the future through technology and science.The museum is open 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, and some Mondays. Old Westbury GardensOld Westbury Gardens, Long Island

Doors will open for the season in early April. The Old Westbury Gardens are listed on the National Register, as a historical place to visit. It is the former home of John S. Phipps, which he shared with his wife, Margarita Grace Phipps and their four (4) children.

Today, there are guided tours for visitors to experience the beauty of this house and the adjacent gardens. In addition, there are classical musical concerts on this property, as well as pop musical concerts under the stars, surrounded by nature’s beauty. They also offer horticultural workshops, lectures, and book signing events.

Jones Beach

Jones Beach is located in Wantagh, NY, and they offer seven (7) miles of beautiful beaches, two different swimming pools and a boardwalk with games for all to enjoy.Off-season, the fee per vehicle is $8, when the beach is open, this price per car load increases to $10 (which is collected before 4pm on weekdays, and before 6pm on weekends). Boat owners can use the dock for $10 a day. Beach chairs and beach umbrellas can be rented for $10 (with a $10 deposit). There are bathhouse locker rentals, also available.

Pitch and Putt has a $7 playing fee, with a minimal deposit on the clubs and balls. Lost balls, as well as lost or damaged clubs will be charged. Miniature golf, paddle ball, shuffleboard and a stroll through the natural center are also on site for a minimal fee.

If you and your sweetie want to enjoy a beautiful summer evening of star gazing, you will need a permit. There are live concerts, on a weekly basis, to meet everyone’s musical tastes. Some artists coming in 2016 include, but are not limited to: Doobie Brothers, Black Sabbath, Sting, Yanni, Janet Jackson, and the Dave Matthews Band.
