How to Protect Your Teeth When Traveling Abroad

When you are traveling in another country, you never know what you might encounter with your teeth. If you happen to chip or crack a tooth, lose a filling, or break a crown, what are you going to do?

If you are not prepared for this type of a situation, you could end up in a lot of pain and being placed in a situation where you have to cut your travel plans short. If you plan on traveling abroad any time soon, make sure to consider what may happen to your teeth while you are away.

Pack a Dental Emergency Kit for Your Trip

You always need to make sure you bring a toothbrush, mouthwash, toothpaste, and floss with you when you travel, no matter where you are going. However, if you are traveling abroad, it is important that you pack a few extra things. It is best to have an extra toothbrush, just in case.

A cheap one is fine. You should also make sure that you pack a bit of dental wax that you keep in your purse or daily travel bag. This can cover a chip or a crack in your tooth to keep it from cutting up your oral tissues.

It can also help to keep a filling in place or a crown sitting where it should be until you can find some dental cement. You should bring a small container of dental cement with you and keep it in your hotel room, in case you have a filling or crown issue.

Going out of town to a place that you do not know is a lot of fun, but it can also be dangerous as you do not know what the stores there will have. For extra traveling tips for your teeth, call our office before you head out of town!
